PS Version used: PS CS3

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PS.

Supplies:

Tube of choice. I am using the art of Pinuptoons. I purchased this tube when he was with CILM. You can now purchase his tubes here

PTU kit Jenny by Creative Scraps by Crys. http://sinfullycreativescraps.blogspot.com/ You can purchase it here

Mask 1 by me. You can grab it here

Font of choice. I am using Kleymissky.

*Resizing: To resize/scale, drag your elements to your working canvas and then with the move tool selected, check the ‘Show Transform Tools’. Then while holding down the Shift button, drag the corners inward to resize to the desired size.*

Open Frame 2. Set the canvas size to 900 x 900. Now set the image size to 600 x 600.

Open Paper 5. Drag over to your frame. Move this layer below the frame. Highlight your frame layer and with your magic wand tool, click inside the frame. Select, modify, expand by 10. On the paper layer, Select, Inverse and press delete. Deselect.

Add your elements. I used the following elements:

Element 26 – resize & place in the lower right corner of the frame. Duplicate & place to the upper left corner of the frame. Merge these two layers together. Move this layer above the frame layer.
Element 11 – resize & place to the top of the frame.
Element 23 – resize & place to the bottom of the frame.
Element 16 – rotate canvas 90CW. Resize & place over the ribbon.
Element 10 – resize & place to the bottom left.
Element 29 – resize & place to the left side.
Element 12 – resize & place over the top of the frame. Duplicate & place over the bottom of the frame.
Element 31 – resize & place over the box.
Element 17 – resize & place to the lower left of the glass.
Element 15 – place to your liking.

Now to add your tubes:

Place 2 copies of your tube over the paper layer. When you are satisfied with the placement, merge the tube layers together. Ctrl + Click on the thumbnail for the paper layer. Select, inverse and press delete.

Ctrl + A, Image, crop. Deselect.

Duplicate your merged tubes layer. Gaussian blur, 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen, opacity 60. On the original layer, set the blend mode to Luminosity, opacity 30.

Place a copy of your tube layer just below your top layer, resize as necessary. Place slightly to the right.

Open your mask & Paper 2. Place your paper above your mask layer on your mask image. With the mask layer highlighted, Ctrl + A, Ctrl + C. On the paper layer, press Q, Ctrl + V. Press Q again and then in the layer palette, click on the Add layer mask button. Right click over the paper layer, Convert to Smart Object, and then right click again & Rasterize layer. Deselect. Now drag your masked paper layer onto your working canvas. Move this layer to the bottom. Duplicate twice. Merge your mask layers together.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers, merge visible. Add you name, copyright, and license info. Save as a PNG.

Spring Afternoons

Font of choice. I am using Young & Beautiful.

Filters:

EyeCandy 4000 Gradient Glow (for text, optional)
Penta.com Color Dot
Filters Unlimited 2.0

Open the Grass Weave. Resize by 38%. Set your canvas size to 600 x 600 px.

Open Paper 5. Resize by 17%. Place you paper below the frame.

With your Polygon Lasso Tool, select along the inside of the frame just slightly larger than the frame opening. Select, inverse. With the paper layer selected, press delete. Deselect.

Open Brush 2. Resize by 42%. Place to the right side. Duplicate, flip horizontal. Place to the left side and merge these two layers together. Move this layer to the bottom.

Now let’s add the remaining elements:

Wall – resize by 35%; place to bottom left.
Fluff – resize by 35%; place to left. Duplicate, place to the right & merge these two layers together.
Birdhouse – resize by 18%; place to the bottom left.
Hearts – resize by 28%; place to your liking.
Grass – resize by 27%; place to the bottom left. Duplicate, place to the bottom right.
Kite – resize by 20%; place to the right side.
Flower – resize by 8%; place along the top of the wall. Duplicate, place to the top right, along the frame.
Tag – resize by 15%; place on the kite where the kite meets the string.

On your paper layer, Filters Unlimited 2.0, Paper Textures, Striped Paper, Fine using the settings of your choice.

Open your tube. Place your tube over the paper layer to the left side, slightly down. Duplicate, flip horizontal and place this copy to the right side and slightly up. Merge your tube layers together. Ctrl+Click on the paper thumbnail. Select, inverse and press delete. Deselect.

Duplicate your tube layer, blur, gaussian blur, 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen.

On the original merged tube layer, Penta.com Color dot. Change the distance to 10. Set the blend mode to Luminosity, opacity 50.

Open your tube again, resizing as necessary. Place as the top layer, to your liking.

Add your name, copyrights, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice then merge visible. Save as a PNG.

Trouble Making

Font of choice. I am using Verdana.

Filters: Xero Radiance

*To resize your elements, with your move tool, make sure the ‘show transform controls’ is checked. Press Shift while dragging the corners of the element towards the center. This will resize the element while keeping it from distorting the shape of the element.

Resize all your elements & tube to your liking.*

Open your template. Image>Duplicate and close the original. Delete the credits layer.

First, let’s work on the template layers:

Layer 1 – Paper 19
Raster 1 & Copy of Raster 1 – Paper 3; Filter>Noise>Add Noise>15, Uniform, Monochromatic checked.
Raster 2 & Copy of Raster 2 – Paper 2. On top of Paper 2 for each of the Raster 2 layers, add your texture. Set the blend mode for the texture layers to Luminosity.
Layer 2 – Paper 16
Layer 3 & 4 – Paper 1

Above layer 3, add a new layer. Floodfill with a black and white gradient. Ctrl+Click on the thumbnail of layer 3. Select>Modify>Expand by 2. Select>Inverse and press delete. Select>Inverse again. Modify, contract by 3 and press delete again. Deselect. Repeat for Layer 4. For both these frame layers, Filter>Noise>Add noise, change the amount to 50.

Merge the wordart layers together.

Open your tube and place a copy under each of the frame layers, erase any part of the tube that extends beyond the frame.

Apply Xero Radiance to the tube layers using the default settings. Duplicate the tube layers, gaussian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode for this layer to Screen.

Now to add your elements:

Wire – place this layer just above the texture layer.
String Bow 2 – scale to size, place to the top of the topmost frame. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal. Place to the top of the bottom frame.
Doodle – scale to size, place to the right side above all the other layers. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal. Place to the left side.
Tube – scale to size, place in the center. Apply Xero radiance with the same settings as before.

Move the wordart to the bottom of the tube. Ctrl+Click on the thumbnail for the wordart. Select>Modify>Expand by 2. Add a new layer and floodfill with #ffffff. Deselect and move this layer below your wordart. Merge these two layers together.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to each layer of your choice. Merge visible.

Erase any layers that may show on the edge of your canvas and resize your tag to your liking.

Bad Girl

Tube of choice. I am using the art of Tim Lowery. You can purchase his tubes here

FTU kit called Bad Girlz by Kittz Kreationz. You can find it here

Template 550 by Millie’s PSP Madness. You can find it here

Font of choice. I am using Rock It.

Filters:

Mura’s Meister Copies
Filters Unlimited 2.0, Special Effects 1, Rasterlines (color)

Open your template. Delete the following layers: cr, 14, 13, & 8. Set the canvas size to 800 x 650. Image size, 600 x 488.

Now to add your papers:

Layer 2 – P2
Layer 3 – P3
Layer 4 – P4
Layer 5 – P6
Layer 6 – P1

Layers 9 & 10 – merge these two layers together. Ctrl+Click on the thumbnail to select. Add a new raster layer & floodfill with #3b4b7f. Deselect.

Filters Unlimited 2.0, Special Effects 1, Rasterlines (color) using the default settings.

Open your tube and place above the rasterline blue layer.

Mura’s Meister Copies, Wallpaper rotate using the default settings.

Filter, Blur, Motion Blur, Angle 0, Distance 100.

Filter, Sharpen, Sharpen.

Ctrl + Click the rasterlines thumbnail. Select, Inverse and press delete. Deselect. On the Mura’s Meister layer, set the blend mode to Luminosity.

Layers 11 & 12 – Merge these two layers together. Ctrl + Click on the thumbnail to select. Add a new raster layer and floodfill with #ffffff.

Filter, Texture, Patchwork, Square Size 4, Relief 0.

Now add your elements:

20 – Resize by 84%; place to the top. Duplicate, Edit, Transform, Rotate 180 and move to the bottom. Merge these 2 layers together and move this layer to the bottom.
38 – Resize by 92%. Place above the large rectangle layer, to the top.
43 – Resize by 73%.
36 – Resize by 85%. Place this layer above all the other layers.
5 – Resize by 85%. Place to the bottom.
6 – Resize by 30%. Place onto your canvas. Duplicate. Place the top copy to the upper left corner. For the bottom copy, transform, flip horizontal. Place over the top of the right small rectangle.
25 – Resize by 42%. Place to the left of the bottom flower. Move this layer below the top flower but above the original.
8 – Resize by 40%. Place to the right side of the left rasterline square.
57 – Resize by 30%. Place to the upper left. Rotate slightly to the left.
14 – Resize by 35%. Place over the top two squares on the left.
21 – Resize by 50%. Place above the topmost flower, to the bottom left.
15 – Resize by 45%. Place to the right of the flames, flip horizontal.
28 – Resize by 40%. Place to the bottom right.
12 – Resize by 35%. Place to the right of the cupcake.
40 – Resize by 30%. Place to the bottom left of the cupcake.
27 – Resize by 40%. Place over the whip.

Now add your tube layers:

With your mura’s meister layer highlighted in the layer palette, place your tube over the right square, resizing as necessary. Duplicate, flip horizontal and place over the left square.

Merge the two tube layers together. Ctrl + Click on the mura’s layer. Select, inverse and press delete. Deselect. Duplicate. Filter, Blur, Guassian blur 3.00. Set the blend mode to overlay, 75%. On the original layer, set the blend mode to luminosity, 20%.

Repeat for the small rectangles layer except make the following changes: On the blurred tube layer, set the blend mode to overlay, and the original tube layer, set the opacity to 50%. Image, Adjustments, Desaturate.

With the skull butterfly layer highlighted, add your tube again, resizing as necessary. Place to your liking. Duplicate, gaussian blur with the same settings as before. Set the blend mode for this layer to overlay. On the original layer, desaturate.

You may have some layers that are exposed on the edges of your canvas. To get rid of these, just use your rectangle selection tool and select the edges and delete these.

Add your name, copyright, and license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers.

Hide the background and splatter layer. On a visible layer, merge visible. Select all, Layer, Align layers to selection, vertical centers. Then repeat align layers to selection, horizontal centers. Deselect. Unhide your splatter layer and merge visible.

Save as a PNG.

Tube of choice. I am using the beautiful art of Barbara Jensen. You can purchase her tubes here

PTU kit A Beautiful Innocence by Creative Scraps by Crys. You can purchase this kit here, here, or here.

Font of choice. I am using Great Vibes.

Filters: AAA FotoFrame

Open a blank canvas, 600 x 250.

Open Paper 5 and drag onto your canvas. Place to your liking.

Add your elements. I chose the following:

Element 49 – place to your liking.
Element 26 – Image>Rotate Canvas>90 CW; place in the middle.
Element 52 – Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical; place to the bottom of the canvas.
Element 32 – place to your liking.
Element 59 – resize by 50%; place to the bottom left corner.
Tube – place slightly to the right, resizing as necessary.
Element 34 – resize by 45%; place to the left side of your tube. Duplicate and place along the right side of the tube.
Element 42 – resize by 80%; place to the bottom left so the leaf bunches are to the left and you can no longer see the stem on the left. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Flip horizontal. Place to the far right.
Element 16 – resize by 45%; place to the top of the clock.
Element 30 – resize by 40%; place to the right side of the clock.
Element 19 – place to the left side and arrange to your liking. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Rotate 180 and place to the top right.
Element 23 – resize by 30%; place to the bottom, halfway between the left side and middle. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Flip horizontal. Place between the middle and right side.
Element 29 – resize by 35%; place to the bottom between the blue flowers. Duplicate, Edit>Transform>Flip horizontal. Place to the bottom left. Duplicate and place this copy to the bottom right.
Element 34 – resize by 30%; place to the bottom right, next to the right flower. Image>Transform>Flip horizontal.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers and flatten image. Image>Duplicate.

AAA FotoFrame. Change the width to 6, matte to 1, and opacity to 50.

Add your name, copyright, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your name. Flatten image again and save as a PNG.

For your avatar, open a new image, 200 x 200. On the original flattened image, drag image onto your new blank canvas. Arrange to your liking and flatten image. Apply the AAA FotoFrame again using the previous settings. Add your Initial and copyright & license info. Apply a drop shadow to your initial. Flatten image and save as a PNG.

Open a new image, 600 x 600.

Open Frame 2, resize by 70%. Drag to your blank canvas.

With the polygon lass tool, make a selection slightly larget than the opening of the frame.

Open Paper 4 and drag to your canvas. Select, inverse. Press delete and deselect. Move this layer below your frame layer.

Open your tube or a closeup. Place over the paper layer. Edit, transform, flip horizontal and place to your liking. Ctrl+Click on the paper thumbnail. Select, inverse and press delete. Deselect.

Duplicate the closeup layer. Filter, blur, gaussian blur, 3.00. Set the blend mode to Screen, opacity 60. On the original closeup layer, set the blend mode to Luminosity, opacity 20.

Open the Fog and place above your frame layer.

Open Ribbon3. Resize by 30%. Place along the right side of the frame.

Open the HalfMoon. Resize by 40%. Place to the upper left corner of the frame.

Open your tube and resize as necessary. Place to the right side. Duplicate, gaussian blur using the same settings as before. Set the blend mode to Screen, opacity 45.

Image, Adjustments, Color Balance, -28, 0, 0.

Image, Adjustments, Variations. Midtones, place arrow on second mark and then click on the Lighter option.

Open the Leaves and resize by 75%. Place to the bottom of your frame.

Open the Stump. Resize by 40%. Place to the bottom left of the frame.

Open the Tab. Resize by 30%. Place to the bottom left. Rotate slightly to the left.

Open Ribbon1. Resize by 65%. Place to the bottom.

Open the Glitter. Resize by 70%. Rotate canvas CW90. Place to the bottom.

Open the Lantern. Resize by 40%. Place to the bottom right of the stump.

Open Raven1. Resize by 25%. Place to the bottom, to the right of the lantern.

Ctrl+A. Image, Crop.

Open your mask and Paper 1.

Open your mask and add Paper 1 above it.

With the mask layer highlighted, Select all, Edit,Copy

On the paper layer, hit Q to activate Quick Mask Mode. Edit, Paste. Hit Q again to turn off Quick Mask Mode.
Now click the Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of your layer palette box. Rasterize the layer. Resize so your mask is the same size as your canvas (600 x 600).

Drag your mask to your working canvas. Move this layer to the bottom.

Add your name, copyrights, & license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice to your layers. Merge visible and save as a PNG.

Gothic Emily

PS Version used: PS CS3 but should work in other versions, and also can easily be converted to PSP.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PS/PSP.

Supplies:

Tube of choice. I am using the stunning work of Zlata M. This tube was an exlcusive to The PSP Project and is no longer available.

PTU kit Gothic Emily II by Kandii Popz Dezignz. You can purchase this kit here.

Template 48 by TwyztedT’s Playroom. You can find it here.

Mask 362 by Weescotslass Creations. You can find it here.

Font of choice.

Filters: Xero Porcelain

*To resize your elements, drag them to your canvas and then use the move tool (show transform tools checked) and press shift + drag them to the size you want.

*For applying a mask, you can find a little tutorial here.

Open your template. Set the canvas size to 850 x 600. Now set your image size to 600 x 424. Delete Raster 12.

Let’s add the papers first.

From the bottom layer to the top –

Raster 7 – Paper 7
Raster 6 – Paper 5
Raster 9 – Paper 9

Merge together both Raster 4 layers.

Merged Raster 4 – Paper 10, rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

Merge together both Raster 5 layers.

Merged Raster 5 – Paper 8
Raster 3 – Paper 4
Raster 10 – Paper 5

Now let’s add our elements & remember to resize as necessary:

GlitterSplat – Place to the left, duplicte, flip horizontal & vertical. Merge these two layers together. Move this layer to the bottom.
Fan – place towards the top, behind the merged slats layer.
PocketWatch – Place to the top left
DemonFly – Rotate slightly to the right, then place in the top inside right corner of your top frame.
Bow1 – Place to the top of your pocket watch.
Sparkles1
Ribbon1 – Place to the bottom
Candles – Place to the bottom left
Glass – Place to the bottom right
Cuppy – Place to the left of the glass
Cat – Place to the bottom, on the right side of the candles
Sparkles2 – Place over the middle or to your liking

Open your tube now.

Place your a copy of your tube over the small square layer (the one with the frame). Xero Porcelain with the settings of your choice, blue set to zero. Duplicate this layer, gaussian blur 3. Set the blend mode to Screen, opacity set to 68. On the original layer, set the blend mode to Luminosity, opacity 55.

Add noise to the frame layer, 50, monochrome checked.

Repeat for the other small square layer.

Now place a copy of your tube just below the ribbon layer. Place to your liking. Apply the Xero Porcelain to you tube. Using your eraser, erase any part of the tube that hangs below the ribbon.

Open your mask and apply the mask to Paper 2. Move your masked layer so it is below the glitter splat layer. Transform the mask so it fits onto your canvas better.

Select all, modify, contract by 1. Image, crop.

Add your name, copyrights, and license info. Apply a drop shadow of choice and then merge visible. Save as a PNG.
